Latest Seesmix: Canadians Affected by Roger’s Service Outage

So I sign onto Seesmic last week (after a week and half sabbatical; occupied by moving to a new place and getting situated), and notice that many of my fine Canadian friends were having trouble signing on. I was soon notified via Twitter by Jennavive and Miranda McCurlie , some fine Toronto-nians (is that a real phrase? cool I just made it up) that the Rogers Communications Provider went out in the city. This means no Internet anywhere… WHAT!?!? do you know the ramifications that would occur if say, AT&T or Verizon went out in the states? Major refunds and a heckling from a wide consumer base. Maybe these things just happen in Canada…

Please enjoy this fine clip of me being picked up in yet another Seemsix Episode. I love you guys over at Seesmic!

    Taylor,
I feel for our Canadian brethren. Time-Warner keeps breaking my cablemodem. *sigh* I thought I’d never miss comcast.

Those seesmic vids are very well created, I love how they string them all together. I feel like I need to jump on seesmic. I’m just afraid it’s going to eat the rest of my time that twitter and http://idek.net don’t eat.

    Adam-

Thanks for reading! yeah, Seesmic does take up a good amount of time- but the relationships created on it, are truly amazing.

Oh yeah- I hate Time Warner. They need to focus more on Customer service, because I am of the assumption that everyone hates them.

Weird… I’m on Rogers at home and at the office and we are located right Downtown Toronto. No issues for us yesterday - likely it was somewhat localized to your friends neighbourhood(s).

Might also have been an issue connecting to Seesmic itself not with other services…

And yes Torontonian is the proper name for people dwelling here ;)

    Cheers

    Matt-

The situation happened last week (I believe Tuesday) during the evening hours (only for about 2-3 hours). So there might have been a chance that you weren’t affected. I know for sure it wasn’t their connection to Seesmic- as they couldn’t even get a signal to connect to the internet.

Thanks for reading- and all the Canadian jokes in the videos are truly just for fun!

    Regards,
    Taylor

    Hey T.B.
Yes, I was LIVID when I found out I could not connect to the internet! Seriously, try living without the internet for even a moment, it is NOT pretty.
Thanks for the shout out; love you!
